Day 1)
Pick up from your hotel Balafone or Tamala in the early morning. Drive to Farasutu Forest for some photographing and to Bintang Bolong Lodge for one night (on a tributary of the Gambia River).
Day 2)
After breakfast at Bintang/Gambia, we drive to Kuntaur for a boat trip to see hippos, chimps and birds. Then to Wassu to see ancient stone circles. We spend one night at Georgetown lodge.
Day 3)
After breakfast at Georgetown/Gambia, we drive to Brikama Ba and to Pata over the border in Senegal. We then drive to Kolda and Farim in Guinea Bissau, cross the river on a ferry and then drive to the hotel Lisboa Bissau. Lots of excellent birding along the way.
Day 4)
After breakfast at the hotel Lisboa Bissau, we will take a boat trip from the port of Bissau. Lunch on the island, returning to Hotel Lisboa for dinner.
Day 5)
After breakfast, we will visit a cashew farm that produces wine or cashew nuts depending on the season, enjoying the countryside and cashew gardens along the way. Lunch at Hotel Lisboa, then a city tour of Bissau including downtown and the crafts market in the evening.
Day 6)
After breakfast at Lisboa Bissau, we will drive back slowly to the Senegal border via a different road. Interesting off-road experiences. Lunch in Sao Domingos. Several stops on the way for birdwatching and to visit oyster farms to see how the oysters are processed. We spend the night in Senegal.
Day 7)
After breakfast in Senegal, we drive back to The Gambia. Lots of stops on the way for sightseeing, visiting villages and doing some birdwatching. Drop off at the selected hotel or the airport.

Day 1 – Arrival & Popenguine Nature Reserve
Arrival in Senegal. Depending on arrival time, enjoy introductory birding around the Popenguine Nature Reserve.
Overnight: Villa Serere, Popenguine
Day 2 – Transfer to the Saloum Delta
Drive south toward the Saloum Delta, making several birding stops en route.
Overnight: Mariama Kunda, Toubakouta (Saloum Delta)
Day 3 – Saloum Delta Boat Trip & Kaolack
Morning boat trip exploring the Saloum Delta. Continue driving to Kaolack with a stop at Île de Kaursarnar for Scissor-tailed Kites.
Overnight: Hotel Le Relais, Kaolack
Day 4 – Kaolack to Wassadou
Drive to Wassadou for an overnight stay, with opportunities to observe additional species along the route.
Overnight: Hotel Wassadou
Days 5–7 – Niokolo-Koba National Park
Three full days of birding inside the renowned Niokolo-Koba National Park, exploring diverse habitats and targeting key species.
Overnight: Park-area lodge (3 nights)
Day 8 – Return to Kaolack
Drive back to Kaolack, making birding stops throughout the journey.
Overnight: Hotel Le Relais, Kaolack
Day 9 – Kaolack to Popenguine
Return to Popenguine with various stops for bird watching.
Overnight: Villa Serere, Popenguine
Departure Day
Depending on flight time, enjoy final morning birding before transfer to the airport.
This programme is flexible and depends on transportation, local conditions, availability of camps/hotels, etc. and the most recent sightings.
Please indicate in advance what you want us to focus on (i.e. birdspotting, photography, misc. nature, culture) so we can take this into account.

Day 1
Pick up at 7.00 from your hotel reception, travel to Tendaba Camp for one night.
Day 2
After breakfast at Tendaba Camp, we drive to Georgetown for a night. Lots of birding along the way.
Day 3
After breakfast at Georgetown we will drive to Bassa to a border crossing to Walligara town in Senegal. A lot of birding on the way, then to Wassadu Nature Park. On this day, we will have a boat trip at Wassadu and will spend the night in Wassadu.
Day 4
After breakfast at Wassadu we will drive to the Niokolo-Koba National Park, the biggest park in The Gambia and visit some photo hides in Senegal for a night.
Day 5
In Niokolo-Koba after breakfast we will have a full day in nature expecting to see many animals. Lunch and a night in the Hotel Sementi.
Day 6
After breakfast at Sementi we will be returning to Georgetown – a long drive with good birding on the way.
Day 7
After breakfast at Georgetown we will drive to the hotel near Kotu Creek
Day 1
After breakfast we will drive to Banjul and cross with the ferry to the north bank of the River Gambia to the border. We will drive to Kaolack to visit the roosting area of the African Swallow Tail Kite and Lesser Kestrel on an island called Khusmarr. Then to the hotel in Kaolack for our night stop.
Day 2
After breakfast we will drive down to Toubakouta in the Saloum Delta National Park. In the afternoon, we will have a boat trip on the Saloum Delta to look for White Crested Tiger Bittern and Goliath Heron (to name just a few!). We’ll spend the night at the hotel in Toubakouta.
Day 3
After breakfast we will have a short birding tour in the Toubakouta area before heading back to The Gambia in the afternoon.
